Amazon Prime Day 2018

Prime Day 2018

Prime Day is a special yearly sale hosted on Amazon's online shopping platform. Deals are available for Prime members only, but you can give it a free 30-day trial if you're not already a member. (I personally get a lot of value out of my Prime membership!)

Prime Day ended on July 17, 2018 at midnight PST. See you again for Prime Day 2019!

The Xbox One S, $299.99 feels to me like the sensible choice for a console right now. With the next console generation looming over the horizon, I'm not sure I'd invest in an Xbox One X, but the S model offers a good, cost-effective middle ground and plays 4K Blu-rays out of the box, something the PS4 Pro doesn't do.

The Nintendo Switch, $379.99 is currently the apex mobile gaming device and doubles up as a game console for your living room. With a rapidly expanding catalogue of AAA and indie games, it offers the most exclusive games out of any game console.

The Fire HD 8, $69.99 is a frequent recommendation of mine. For the cost, it's a great media player, and despite the lack of official Google Apps (including Youtube), mine's been serving me well for the last 7-8 months. Battery endurance's great and the speakers are quite loud, especially when the tablet's standing over a hard surface like a table.

The Samsung Galaxy S9, $960 features one of the best mobile cameras out there and is a must for anyone relying on their smartphone for photography. This bundle throws in smart earbuds (with fitness tracking options) and everything you need to keep your phone charged wirelessly.

The Elgato Stream Deck, $129 is a drool-inducing accessory among streamers. With 15 programmable LCD buttons, it's a handy tool to keep a soundboard handy as well as switching scenes in your favourite streaming programs like OBS and XSplit.

The Blue Yeti USB Microphone, $99 is a popular product among streamers, YouTubers, podcasters, and anyone looking to sound professional while recording their voice in front of the computer.

The Edifier Powered Bookshelf Speakers, $87.49 has been listed among my recommended accessories for a while. They have a classic look, but they also have multiple input so you can use them with multiple sources.

The Aukey 20W Solar Charger, $46.99 could come in very handy if your summer adventures takes you off the grid. Even if there's no mobile service where you are, your smartphone cans still come in handy with a GPS app or simply as a camera so your friends believe you when you tell them about that giant fish you caught...
