Apple TV 4K (32GB)

Apple TV 4K (32GB)

The Apple TV, as a Console, is a solid choice for media streaming and is powerful enough to deliver rich experiences on the gaming front as well. The gaming potential of the console is highly dependent on the Apple Arcade program bringing developers back to the platform, however.

So, if you're planning to play on this console, expect to spend a bit more money to get a gamepad (approx. C$60, if you don't currently have one) and an Apple Arcade Subscription (C$5.99/month), required to access to most new games on the platform.

Alternatively, tanks to the Steam Link app, you could also play your Gaming PC's Steam Library on your Apple TV without paying a monthly fee.

Other Considerations

Here are a few things about this Console which could come as a surprise. For each point, you will find how to fix it (if it's an issue) and how much to budget for it. Not every point below will be a concern, but hopefully, we can keep your surprises to a minimum.

No Headphone Jack. Without a headphone jack, you will need a (more expensive) bluetooth headset to listen music privately. It also won't be possible to connect to traditional speakers or sound systems without a bluetooth feature.$50+

Screenless. If you don't already have a monitor from your last computer, you could connect this Console to a TV or get a new monitor.$120+

Assuming you are starting over fresh, you can expect to spend $200 on accessories, for a total cost of $400.
